First Grace of Dayton is directing a drive for storm relief that will be delivered to Gateway Church on Staten Island (the hardest hit area of New York). We want to get there as soon as possible; more inclement weather is on the way this week and many people are still without shelter or basic necessities. We will be loading a semi-truck Saturday and leaving Sunday afternoon at 2 PM -arrival on Monday. We will need your help organizing and loading this Friday (November 9th). Please bring in whatever you’re able to give to the people of New York.
Doors to the First Grace gymnasium are open 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday. Basic, unused necessities are needed. Here’s the list of items we will need:Blankets, pillows, shoes, socks, underwear, matches, soap, cleaning supplies, trash bags, rakes, shovels, batteries, non-electric light sources, generators, coats, scarves, winter hats, gloves, work-gloves, toilet paper, shampoo, LOTS OF WATER, non-perishable food, diapers, formula, sanitizer, feminine products, first aid kits (gauze, bandages), toothbrushes, toothpaste, and gift-cards for Home Depot. Also, if people are thinking ahead and would like to provide toys for the children or gift cards, this is going to be a rough Christmas for a lot of families in the Staten Island community. We want to do whatever we can to bring these people hope.
The senior pastor at Gateway church is a close personal friend of Pastor Bruce Jackson at First Grace. This is a way to provide relief quickly that will go directly and immediately to the people in need BY THIS COMING MONDAY instead of going through middle men. Financial donations received by First Grace will be used for this purpose only and you will be receipted for tax purposes. Gas for the truck and van will need to be covered as well. For more information, call the church (937) 890-6786 or email Brittany Jackson at brittany.jackson@firstgrac

It’s going to be an exciting first week of April – starting with Crosswalk (our experience carrying a replica of the cross through Dayton)!
